HMS Ark Royal IV was the first model ship that I built from scratch in 1/350 scale. The lack of any accessories in either photo- etched detail or resin parts spurred me on to start creating the more difficult items like the radar antennas in photo-etched metal. This caught the attention of White Ensign Models, who took up the challenge of producing in house accessories for ship modellers in numerous scales. Atlantic Models was born and I worked closely with WEM for many years building up a supply of fittings and accessories.

HMS Peacock in 1/350 scale was Atlantic Models first complete kit back in 1998. The initial run was mainly a trial and limited to about 30 kits. Although the sales were disappointing at the time it provided a valuable learning experience for future White Ensign Models kits.

After a long period of producing kits for WEM, and following a number of requests, it was decidedto persue a range of kits covering the Royal Navy during the Cold War era. The patterns for the Peacock were brought out and refitted. The photo etch set was upgraded and the assembly instructions renewed. This kit was re-released in 2012 and is now regularly available. The model in the photograph is of HMS Plover one of Peacock's sisters.

ATK 35002 HMS Leopard Type 41 AA Frigate 1/350 Scale

The kit of HMS Leopard followed shortly after the re-release of the HMS Peacock kit in Mid 2012. The kit portrays HMS Leopard as she appeared in her first fit during the late 1950's.

ATK 35003 HMS Puma Type 41 AA Frigate 1/350 Scale

The kit of HMS Puma runs parallel to the HMS Leopard kit and is simply a variant of the Type 41 class. The kit portrays Puma as she was fitted in the late 1960's early 1970's.

ATK 35004 HMS Glamorgan County Class Destroyer (DLG) 1/350 Scale

The kit of HMS Glamorgan was a massive project to undertake in this scale, due to the size of the ship and the complexity of the finer details. The huge 965 double bedstead radar and the girder work of the Sea Slug missile launcher take up a large area of the photo etched detail set. Kit was launched Summer of 2013.

ATK 35005 HMS Leeds Castle Off Shore Partol Vessel 1/350 scale

This class of ship is for all intents a Corvette in both size and ocean going capabilty. The kit was produced as an entry level subject to give an alternative to the Peacock as a beginners choice.

The kit can modelled as either the Leeds Castle or Dumbarton Castle, both of which served as

Falkland Islands Patrol ships as well as the domestic off shore fishery protection.

ATK 35006 HMS Cleopatra Leander Class Frigate 1/350 Scale

This is a model of one of the most numerous ships built of one class for the Royal Navy between 1961 and 1972. The total number of ships in the class was 26 and they continued to serve into the 1990's. The kit is made up of resin, metal and photo-etched brass parts, and includes a decal sheet that contains pennant numbers and ships names for all the ships of the class in Royal Navy service, plus one. HMS Hero was the name of the ship that starred in the 1970s TV series 'Warship'.
